When Menge and Geralt talk, Triss's screams filled the room. The hunters tortured her, and yet, Geralt didn't do anything about it. Does he feel a little guilt? Yes. But a part of him didn't. It was Triss's idea to give up herself anyway.
"Still haven't paid me for the witch. Yet your hunters are already torturing her."
"What of it?"
"You're damaging goods you haven't paid for yet."
"Don't worry. You shan't leave empty-handed. I shall pay you twice the usual reward for Merigold."
"Awfully generous. Why?" Geralt asked spaciously.
"Well, you've turned in your lover. The emotional trauma it must entail. You deserve compensation."
"You seem well informed… So you have to know Triss betrayed me first. Used me as a pawn in the Lodge's game. As I see it, she's getting what she deserves." Geralt knows the woman doesn't deserve this, but he must play Menge's game, and yet, what he said was somewhat true. Triss has betrayed him in a certain way.
"So, Witcher, I have to say you impressed me a little bit." Menge was specious about Geralt's turn in his former lover. But the silver-haired man doesn't even flinch during the whole time while they torture the woman in the other room. "Perhaps we can deal after all. You know something about Philippa. What do you want in return for this information?"
"It's simple. Free Dandelion."
"A tempting offer, but I must say no. You see, I've got a magnificent execution planned for Dandelion in Oxenfurt. A breaking wheel, flaying alive, and so forth. It should work wonders for the mores of the academic youth and townsfolk." The smirk on Menge's face was disgusting.
"When's this morally instructive spectacle due to take place?" Geralt's voice was sarcastic.
"When I issue the order, in person. The bard will remain in the dungeons beneath Temple Isle until then. Maybe we can agree on different terms? But first, let's see how Merigold. It's grown suspiciously quiet in there. Come." In the room, the hunters were on the floor, and there was Triss, her fingernails ripped out, with a murderous light in her eyes. She attacked Menge almost immediately.
"He says where Dandelion is?" She forced Menge to stay immobile with her magic.
"Yes, but…" But Triss doesn't care what Geralt might want to say, she put a pointed tool in Menge's throat. He was dead, and the red sorceress was pale like a ghost. Or a Witcher. "Triss… That was impulsive and a bit premature."
"What do you mean?"
"Menge said Dandelion is locked up on Temple Isle. Dungeon right under the temple. He was planning to execute him in Oxenfurt… Also said they'd only let Dandelion out of his cell once Menge gave the order in person."
"Shit… I'm sorry Geralt. I should've thought it through, but when I saw him…" Triss was stunned by what she did earlier. Murder doesn't what she does, but the rage toward this man blinded her judgment.
"What's done is done. Could you… revive him?"
"Maybe, if I actually practiced black magic. I haven't sunken that low just yet."
"Yennefer did it. It was the only way we-" But Geralt can't even finish what he wanted to say.
"I'm not Yennefer, Geralt. I never will be." Triss's voice and face were sad. She knows this too well. So as is Geralt.
"I know that. But at least she does everything to find Ciri. And what do you did? You lied to me, Triss. When I lost my memories, you don't even tell me about Yen and Ciri."
"What I was supposed to do, Geralt? She was not there, but I was. I'm sorry for lying to you, but I'm not apologizing for loving you."
"That's not love, Triss. You're right, you are not Yen."
"Geralt…"
"We just focus on finding a way out of here. Come on." Geralt's voice was cold. He was maybe a little too harsh with Triss, but what can he say? It was true. He wanted to get out of here, and meanwhile hoping he can find Dandelion in time…

I'm not Yennefer
During the Witcher 3 while Menge's hunters torture Triss. The conversations are the same as in the game. English is not my native language, sorry if there are any grammar errors. Good reading! - Inata

~Menge's office~
Yes, Triss never will be Yen. The raven-haired sorceress was everything what Triss wasn't.
